Bodie Island Lighthouse, Nags Head

Did you know ...
The height of the tower from ground to top of lantern room is 165 feet.
A Great Egret
Did you know ...
The Lighthouse was completed in 1872
Wilson walking Julep & Derby back to the car ... time to move on to the next lighthouse.
Bodie Island Lighthouse is situated within the national park between the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound, the light station is in one of the most picturesque settings in America.
The 1872 Bodie Island Lighthouse (pronounced 'body') is a few miles south of the entrance to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.  This light is about halfway between the Currituck Beach and Cape Hatteras Lighthouses.  It signaled southbound ships to turn east to avoid Diamond Shoals to the south.
Friends AJ & Bob are sharing the first week of vacation with us.
Derby's nose worked overtime today!

Having fun with the camera.
