Longwood Gardens - The Chrysanthemium Festival

After we dropped off the westies to be groomed, Wilson & I headed to Longwood Gardens.  This is one of my favorite places to visit - at any season.  With limited time, we saw a small part of the Gardens after lunch.  Let's start with the entrance.
Making Scents:  The Art & Passions of Fragrance exhibit is closing Nov. 21 ... We didn't have time to experience this, but picked up a special brochure called 'Scent Seekers' which has 'scratch & sniff' tabs and a 'scent log' ... something fun to play with tomorrow.
On the way to the Conservatory & the Orangery.  Good walking shoes are a must!
There were very few people so we could linger and take our time photographing.  The formal restaurant was completely full, but we managed to get in at the right time.

Wilson is enjoying taking photo's.
I can't wait to see them since his camera is much better then my point and shoot.
. . .  Spider Mums . . .
This is my favorite photo (out of 200 various shots).

. . . Water Reflections . . .

. . . Bird of Pardise . .

We viewed half of the Conservatory.

Longwood Gardens is 30 miles west of Philadelphia in the historic Brandywine Valley and is one of the horticultural treasures of America.  Recalling the great pleasure gardens of Europe, Longwood exemplifies a twentieth-century approach to classic Old Word traditions.
. . .
The gardens were the country home of Pierre S. du Pont, industrial wizard and financier extradordinare.  The history of Longwood Gardens is interesting.  Please visit http://www.longwoodgardens.org/ for additional information.
