Looking Forward to Turkey Day!

Thanksgiving is a holiday of American history, family, and lots of food.

The year 2021 will be the 400th anniversary of the first Thanksgiving in 1621.  

"The funny thing about Thanksgiving, or any huge meal, is that you spend 12 hours shopping for it and then chopping and cooking and braising and blanching. Then it takes 20 minutes to eat it and everybody sort of sits around in a food coma, and then it takes four hours to clean it up." – Ted Allen 

Turkeys can run up to 20 miles per hour when frightened. They can fly between 50 and 55mph.

A cornucopia was originally a curved goat's horn filled with fruits and grains.  According to Greek legend, the goat Amalthea broke off one of her horns and offered it to Zeus, the "king" of the gods, as a sign of reverence.  In return, Zeus is said to have later hung an image of Amalthea in the sky. This shape is now known as the constellation Capricorn.  Cornucopia is the most common symbol of a harvest festival.
