Baking Healthy Treats For The Westies

A member of WESTIES HEALTH -- FROM EARS TO TAIL
group page on Facebook posted the {below} treat recipe so
I decided to give it a try.
The ingredients are simple.  My sister found the coconut flour for
me at Wegman's which is the most expensive ingredient.
This is not rocket science - measure and dump into the bowl.
A lot of people commented on FB that they are not bakers.
I think they feared everything had to be measured exactly
and mixed just right {like *say* for a cake}.
Just mix until well blended & forms a ball of dough.
I sprinkled a little unsweetened coconut on a top of a few to
see how they would bake and they came out just fine.  Now if
you wanted you could roll the dough out and use a bone
cookie cutter or even a small round glass to cut them out.
I opted for the simple drop and press with a fork technique.
*The Recipe*
1 Cup Coconut Flour
1/2 Cup Smooth Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Mashed Blueberries
1/2 Cup Mashed Banana
4 Eggs
{Next Time: I feel 3 eggs would make them firmer}
1/3 Cup Warm Water

***
Note of Additions to the basic recipe:
Dried Cranberries
 Unsweetened Shredded Coconut
***
Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
If dry add a little more warm water.
Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet
350 degrees ... 20-22 minutes
Makes: approx. 50 small size treat
***
Storage:  Since these came out as a semi-moist treat I would only
keep out as many as you need for a day or two.
Although the recipe didn't say anything about freezing
I placed 6 treats per plastic bag for the freezer.
Yummy ... those treats smell so good I can't wait to taste them!

If you have a special dog treat recipe you'd like
to share with me please let me know.
