It's Saturday & I'm Drowning In Stuff

It's Saturday in the land of packed boxes ... and ...
guess what I'll be doing today?  Packing more boxes!
It's a day for sorting out book to pack and books to donate.
Did I mention we have no rental to go to.  We may be
living in a storage unit if something doesn't come through!
The geese are flying in and the honking is loud.
I'm savoring every honk as crazy as that sounds.
My weekend schedule is ... packing more boxes and finishing
up the last quilt I will be making in this house.
I spent over 8 hours packing up the kitchen yesterday and still
am not finish ... which brings me around to this next piece.

The Minimalists Lifestyle
{something to seriously consider}
I'm drowning in stuff ... are you?

Minimalism is a lifestyle helps people question what
things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life’s path,
we can all make room for the most important aspects of life:
health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.

There are many flavors of minimalism:
a 20-year-old single guy’s minimalist lifestyle looks different
from a 45-year-old mother’s minimalist life. Even though everyone
embraces minimalism differently, each path leads to the same place:
a life with more time, more money, and more freedom
to live a more meaningful life.

Getting started is as simple as asking yourself one question:
How might your life be better if you owned fewer material possessions?

We’re overrun by stuff.
Our homes are crowded with unused items —
things that aren’t adding value to our lives.
What unnecessary things are you holding on to just in case?

Be honest with yourself.
When’s the last time you found value in many of
the items cluttering your home?
You see, just because those things aren’t adding value to your life,
that doesn’t mean that someone else can’t get value
from those items. Donating your excess stuff doesn’t just clear
some of the clutter from our homes—from our lives—it allows others
to benefit from the items we’ve unnecessarily hoarded.

Getting started is freeing. Amid an endless sea of stuff,
simplifying our lives keeps us from drowning.

  1. LOL less is more until you start finding stuff squirrelled away all round the place and then more is more. Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. If I may ask, where are you all moving to?

  3. Congratulations! I'm going to miss the nature that once surrounded you, but I'm very happy everything worked out. And thanks for the reminder...less is definitely best!

  4. I've often said that I want to clean my house as if I was moving and didn't want to take all the stuff with me. I've never gotten around to doing it but I sure would like to.
