It's Out of This World

I have a FB friend who accepted a job with NASA.

Her husband works at NASA already but in a different department.

I thought it would be nice to surprise them with a 

quilt based on NASA and outer space.

They have 3 westies.   One of the westies names that comes

 to mind is Orion.  Go figure!

While I wanted the quilt to have an outer space theme I

didn't want NASA to dominate the quilt.  The outer border

simply has the word NASA on it.  The inner border has 

various NASA/outer space patches on it.

The back fabric is the solar system.

I made a table runner to go with the placemats below.

There was enough fabric left to make 4 placemats and

4 napkins.  She loves to take pictures of what they will be

having for dinner and post on FB.   I felt the placemats

would enhance her food pictures. 

They both were surprised and loved everything in the box.

She sent me a note saying she wanted to encase the quilt

in glass so everyone could see the front and back.  I

told her that was a first!
