Quilts

The vintage rose quilt is finished and is now on the way
to its new home with my cousin Alberta.
I hope she likes it!

Sniffer Boy Derby
I knew I wouldn't find buttons to match the colors
in this quilt so I made my own fabric buttons.
Simple and easy - why didn't I think of this before.
The back fabric - wish I had more.

Let us not forget Ms. Julep who really doesn't
want anything to do with the quilts.
Scientists throughout the ages have been pondering
the question ... what came first ...
the rooster or the westie?
What started out to be a joke quilt for my ex-bosses
wife turned out rather pretty.  Wilson said this one
is his favorite so far.  The joke being ... Walter and his wife
moved from sunny southern California to Kansas to be
closer to their daughter ... and I'll leave it at that ...
just in case anyone who reads my blog is from Kansas.
I just think of Kansas as a lot of farmland
(thus the roosters) with a BBQ joint on every corner.
Derby is still looking for the answer to what came first.
He's pretty convinced the westie came first.
I do have one more rooster panel put away for
another quilt one day.
 Duck Duck Duck
A baby quilt minus the binding.
 The finished duck quilt.
This happy little baby quilt is on the way to a young couple
expecting their first child.  They have a westie named Finn
who is one of Audrey's pups (who is Juleps sister)
so I guess we're sorta related in a westie-type of way.
The back of the duck quilt.  Bethany & Ryan will find out
the sex of the baby in a few weeks but in the meantime I
made a 'generic' quilt for them.
Thanks for stopping by ... hope you have a
ducky week ahead.
...
On Thursday Deb & I have tickets for the big sewing
and quilting expo in Baltimore.  As a first time event for
us we are totally excited.  The bad part - no
cameras are allowed but I may sneak a few photo's
with my iphone .... stay tuned.

  1. Derby…. thank you for showing us your mum's beautiful quilts. My mom quilts too but she does not let me in her sewing room. She says she is a messy quilter and doesn't want me to step on any fallen pins.

I'd say Westie came 1st! My playdate mates are westies (Finn and Wally) and they are always fun to play with. Maybe you're related to them.

  4. We love the look of these quilts - I'd be with Derby, snuggling into all of them but my favourite is the ducky one!

  5. Hi there Derby! You’re so cute and irresistible! I think he is enjoying the red buttons stuck on the quilt. Just a hint, you’ll wake up one day and the buttons will be gone. Prime suspect is Derby. Anyway, the quilts are adorable and well-crafted. I believe Derby will enjoy it!
