If Bob Said It Was Okay ...

Of course Derby doesn't know Bob ...
because I met Bob many many years ago
and we still keep in touch.  When I
introduced Wilson to Bob - Bob knew
Wilson's father - small world, isn't it!
Bob's Books To Me
So I know you're wondering just who 'Bob' is.
Well, I met Bob while he was taking photographs
of a friend and Bob was kind enough
to take a few photo's of me (that was back in
my younger days).  I'm hoping Bob has my photo's
in a box next to some of the famous people
he photographed during his career.
 Meet Bob Adelman
I was very excited when Wilson purchased the
new Nikon D5100 for me so I called Bob
to tell him and basically said to him that
there is no way I'm ever going to learn this camera
with all the setting ... to which Bob said
to me ... Katie, my dear, it's okay to shoot
photo's on automatic.  Then he spouted
off several well known photographers that
won awards using the simple automatic
setting on their camera ... so if Bob
said it's okay to shoot on automatic
then it's certainly okay with me!
During our conversation Bob named several
big camera companies that wanted to 'give'
him their top of the line - over the top - expensive
camera to use.  Camera's that cost well over
$70,000 dollars ... I believe he said he didn't like them
with reasons why ... hey Bob - think of me next time!
So after that chat about expensive camera's
I sure felt my little Nikon was in the 'minor leagues'.

As Wilson and I prepare to leave this morning
for our overnight trip to Longwood Gardens
I will keep in mind what 'Bob said' in our last e-mail ...
"I'm sure whatever you see is graced by your seeing it
{he's such a sweetheart to say that}.  Don't worry about
technique, you just need enough of a net to
catch the butterfly ..."
Well ... this may not be a butterfly but I did
manage to catch this little winged critter
on our last trip to Longwood.
...
Next post ... the flowers of Longwood
