A Sunday in February

My little sewing buddy Derby.  He's so stinkin' cute I can't stand it.
. . . . .
I had to check the calendar to see if it was really still February.
Here in St. Michaels the weather was like a wonderful spring day
minus the pollen.  I went outside with no coat to pull some weeds
and realized how dry the ground was.  I decided to hook up
the hose and watered all the flower beds and newly planted trees.
The neighbors must think I'm batty for doing
this but if I see a need for water by gosh I'm going to water.
We have some spring plants blooming already which is
really nice but at the same time I'm fearful that's we're going
to get a big snow storm.  Here in the mid-Atlantic March
can be an awful weather month.
The stack of fabric by Derby's head is Christmas fabric.
Savannah's mom sent me a note and asked if I had the time to make
a quilt for her husband as a surprise birthday gift.  I think he was feeling
left out since both Savannah and her mom both received quilts from me.
This fabric [above] is what I'm considering for the back of the quilt.
I found the perfect kit at Hancock of Paducah at a really
nice price. This is a paid commission and needs
to be done and in her hands by April.
While scouting around the sale section on the Hancock website
I spotted this jelly roll for only $19.  Now that's a steal since
most jelly rolls are around $29 to $35 dollars which I feel
is way over priced for {40} 2-1/2" strips of fabric.  I'll put this
away until I find exactly what I want to make from it.

  1. Derby is adorable. I want to reach through the screen and give him a big old hug.
