The Day After Xmas

Wilson & I had a very quiet Christmas.  This is the 2nd year
we were not able to be with my family.  Last year [after our trip
to New York City] I got deathly sick.  Looking back I
must have had 'the virus' before it was actually being talked
about.  I'll take low-key over deathly sick any day!
Since I haven't posted any of my sewing projects for a few days
I just wanted to catch up on this.  Above is a simple kids quilt
made from left over fabric.  I'm on a kick to clean out
and use more of my stash and only buy fabric if I find
it greatly reduced in price [so far I haven't seen any deals].
While I completed this top during the summer I finished it and
gifted it to my dentists middle daughter.  He was telling me
she is thinking of joining the military but at 17 anything
can happen.

Another top I made during the summer.  It was also just finished
& gifted to my dentist to give to his 1st daughter who is in
collage.  He thinks she will follow his footsteps into dentistry.
The set of pillowcases using a winter forest creature theme was also
gifted to my dentist for daughter #3.  She didn't get a quilt because
she took the quilt I made for him and his wife and put it on her bed!
So what I've learned over the years is you can't give one kid
something without the others no matter how old they are.
This top is going to Outreach to finish and pass on.
Using up more stash fabric.  Since I reduce the pixels in the
pictures so they transfer quickly to the blog some of the
details get lost.  The white fabric has wavy gray with metallic
dots running through it.  I found that fabric for $3.99/yard
in Lancaster, PA.
I finished up the churn dash blocks and got two lap sized
tops out of one fat quarter package of fabric.
I do like this block but I'm going to do some simple sewing
with my stash that doesn't require concentrated
thinking like this block did.
. . .
I agreed to be brand ambassador for one of the Jaftex Fabric
lines next year.  This will be {I think} the 4th year of receiving
free fabric with the obligation of making and submitting photo's
of my projects within a 30 day time frame.  Since we have zero
travel plans I say ... bring on the free fabric!

  1. We played it safe to and did not travel or see family. Just Facetime'd wiff family and friends.
Mom LOVES your quilts. She is working on one wiff scottie fabric and will donate it to a Scottie Rescue auction when it is done (if I don't steal it 1st). BOL.

  2. Yes, low key is way better than sick. Love all your quilts. That one with the white fabric squares with the gray makes it look like wrinkles until you look closer at it.
